Tottenham vs Manchester city(Battle of the never wons)

This clash is the only ALL-English clash that will take place in the quarter final of the Uefa Champions league, meanking automatically we have an English side in the Semi-final. Last season Pep’s boys did a double over Spurs in the league and they have already had one over them this season, the last premierleague tie between the two clubs will take place on April 20th. City has played in the semi-final in recent times when they lost to Madrid and they have a manager that have won the trophy twice.

Favourite to qualify  – Manchester city

Liverpool vs Porto (Battle of former champions)

Last year’s beaten finalists Liverpool received arguably the most favourable draw of all the English teams after they were paired with former champions Porto.Porto’s form has been sublime this season and they will surely be a great threat to Liverpool’s semi-final ambition

favourite to qualify-  Liverpool

Ajax vs Juventus.(battle of former champions)

Juventus will play Dutch champions Ajax. The Turin giants will surely be careful and never take the Dutch side for granted after what they did to defending Champions Real Madrid.Cristiano will be full of confidence as the Turin side take on Ajax young boys, the last time he played against them in a Real Madrid jersey, he had an hattrick.Juventus remains the most unfortunate champions league team, having lost the most finals(7) and will be banking on Ronaldo to see them to their title.

favourite to qualify – Juventus

Manchester United vs Barcelona (Battle of former champions)

Manchester United face a daunting tie against Barcelona.Though many may not know, apart from the two finals that United lost to Barcelona, the Old trafford have never lost a two legged knockout tie against Barcelona. On current form both teams are good to go but Barcelona hold sway in Laliga while a resurgent United is battling with getting a UCL spot for next season. United were drawn as the away team for the first leg but the tie had to be reversed, as UEFA had stipulated in advance following advice from local authorities that they and City could not play at home on successive nights.

favourites to qualify – Barcelona

United and Liverpool will meet in the semi-finals if they reach the last four, with Tottenham or City facing the winner of the quarter-final between Ajax and Juventus.

The first legs of the quarter-finals will take place on April 9 and 10, with the second legs on April 16 and 17.

Favourites ordinarily doesn’t translate to winners. We witnessed massive upsets in the round of 16 where Real Madrid, the most successful club in this competition were beaten blue black by a crop of hungry and determined young Ajax team . We also saw United rewrite the history books as the first team ever to upturn a 2-0 home first leg loss and go on to qualify by defeating PSG 3-2 on aggregate. Need we say more,we saw a determined Juventus side crush an Atletico Madrid side(a team that had kept clean sheet in the last 5 matches leading to the matchup) to pieces by 3 goals to nil in the second leg after going down 2-0 in Spain.
