The September ranking released by the International Table Tennis Federation has shown that the African continent remains the battle ground for Nigeria and Egypt. The intensity of the rivalry has shown that it wont abate any time soon.
The top 10 ranking on the Continent is dominated by Nigeria and Egypt, the two countries have 4 players ranked in the top 10.
There wasnt any major changes in the top ranking apart from changes of places, with the likes of Nigeria’s Toriola going down the pecking order while Egyptian El-Belial moving up in the rankings.
Nigeria’s Aruna Quadri who recently moved back into the world top 20 rankings, remains the Numero Uno, while Omar Assar comes a distant second,veteran Ahmed Saleh remains 3rd while the gold medal winner at the just concluded All African games Olajide Omotayo is 4th. Congolese Idowu Saheed is the biggest loser he dropped to number 10. He also dropped massively from 136 to 189 in the world.
Breathing down the neck of the 10th placed player is the Senegalese sensation Ibrahima Diaw in 11TH.
