Manchester United started their 2018/19 season on a winning note on Friday at Old Trafford. Manchester United captain Paul Pogba scored the opening goal as the Red Devils beat Leicester 2-1 in the first game of the Premier League season.

United won a penalty in the second minute when foolishly Daniel Amartey handled Alexis Sanchez’s deflected shot.France midfielder Pogba stepped up and after a slow run-up placed the ball in the top-right corner above Kasper Schmeichel.

Left-back Luke Shaw made it two on the 82nd minute with a solo effort to even his own amazement. it was his first senior goal of his career

Leicester city made a late resurgence when substitute Jamie Vardy scored a late consolation off a rebound from Ricardo Perreira’s cross that hit United’s post.


It is the third year in a row Leicester have conceded the opening goal of the season – having lost to Hull and Arsenal in the first games of the previous two campaigns.
