The Los Angeles Lakers will have to play without Rajon Rondo for 4-5 weeks after the all-star guard underwent a successful surgery on the finger of his right hand, the team announced Friday.

Rondo picked up a Grade 3 sprain to his right ring finger during the Lakers’ 127-101 victory at Golden State on Christmas Day, where the team also lost Lebron James due to a groin injury.

Rondo averages 8.4 points, 6.7 assists and 4.4 rebounds in his first season with the Lakers, but only managed 14 appearances so far due to right hand injury and fight suspension.

The Lakers now stand at the fifth in the Western Conference with 20 wins and 15 defeats before hosting their neighbors LA Clippers at the Staples Center on Friday night.
